Bullets draw with Surestream again

Once again, TNM Super League Big Bullets failed to overcome Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) Premier League leaders Surestream FC following a 1-1 draw on Wednesday during a thrilling friendly encounter at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The two sides settled for a 2-2 draw in their first meeting in November 2014 at Balaka Stadium.

Bullets_celebrateHowever, the latest episode proved a tougher encounter for the Super League giants as they were subjected to a tormenting pass-and-move system.

In the last 20 minutes, Bullets were made to chase their shadows.

Bullets have to thank their new signing Chiukepo Msowoya for the early goal he scored in the fourth minute; and Surestream’s naivety in the first-half.

Surestream restored parity in the 68th minute through Bernard Chimaimba’s well-taken penalty after Miracle Gabeya’s hard-tackle on Chimaimba in the box.

But things turned sour for Bullets after they were reduced to 10 men after Pilirani Zonda was sent for an early shower for confronting the assistant referee  in protest of the penalty.

“We were fatigued in the final minutes because Surestream seemed more tactical and technical in their approach,” said Bullets coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadan.

“The sending off of Zonda also affected us. It was needless for such a big player to earn red cards in a friendly game like this one. We need to improve on discipline if we are to win against Club Fomboni in the CAF Champions League next Friday,” he said.

On his part, Surestream technical director Peter Mponda said the game was a good preparation for their encounter against Zomba United tomorrow.
