Big Bullets have formed a security team to be deployed at match venues to check on rogue fans during matches, the club’s chairperson for the Centre, Rex Kanga’azi Mitochi has announced.

“The team is paying hefty sums of money because of the violence caused by its supporters. We have decided to have our own internal security team to check rogue fans in our ranks. We have no sponsors as such we cannot afford to be paying these huge penalties,” said Mitochi.

The committee has since identified 30 fans to be controlling Bullets irate fans at matches played in Lilongwe, Dwangwa and Dedza.

According to Mitochi, the security team has already started work under ground.

“Their job is strictly to control Bullets fans. Culprits will be handed over to police to be detained until the match is over. In case of criminal behaviour, the police will take action without our interference,” said Mitochi.

He said at the end of each game, each security member will be paid between K3 000 (US$7) and K5 000 (US$12).

“This money is from the club coffers as this arrangement has the blessings of the team executive committee.

“It is about safeguarding the image of the team. We do not want to find ourselves in the situation now faced by Silver Strikers or Mighty Wanderers. We have to guard against that,” he said.

Last month, Bullets were fined K1.2 million for causing violence during their Super League match against Epac FC at Silver Stadium.
