Big Bullets FC got a hearty welcome from about 200 Malawians on arrival in Sudanese capital Khartoum on Thursday ahead of tomorrow evening’s CAF Champions League first round, first-leg tie against Al Hilal.

In a telephone interview from Sudan yesterday, Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama said their hosts also accorded them a warm welcome.

“If things do not go our way on Sunday, we will have no excuse because we have been well received by Malawians based here as well as Al Hilal who have booked us at five-star Corithia Hotel, Blue Nile.

“They have also provided us a luxury coach and a good training venue at their FA’s technical centre,” said Msungama.

He said Bullets are scheduled to get the feel of the match venue this evening.

“We have three days to train under floodlights starting from Thursday and by Saturday, we are hopeful that we should have adapted,” he said.

Commenting on the sweltering conditions, Msungama said: “It is extremely hot during the day between 10am and 4pm about 37 degrees Celsius, but the good part of it is that the match is in the evening, when the conditions are mild.”

He said their hosts are a professional side that is serious in its undertakings.

“They have a professional set-up with proper structures in place and their budget for the first-leg is pegged at $25 000 [about K11.2 million] and yet we waste time fighting each other. I should admit that I felt very embarrassed when I compared with our situation,” he said.
