Big Bullets have snubbed FAM’s demand of depositing $20 000 in their account by today as ‘surety’ for the 2015 Champions League participation.

FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda insisted on Tuesday that the deadline still stands, but Bullets general secretary Harold Fote has shrugged off the ultimatum.

“We do not have idle money to deposit with FAM. We have enough to transport us from one place to another and for accommodation, food and allowances,” Fote said.

Earlier, Nyirenda insisted that the money would remain Bullets’ and that the association was only playing it safe in the event of some hiccups. Bullets travel to the Comoros for a preliminary round first leg fixture against Fomboni Club de Moheil.

A few years ago, Super Escom and Civo United also registered for CAF competitions only to withdraw and attract a fine which FAM ended up paying.

Nyirenda said they had drawn lessons from such experiences. Withdrawing from CAF attracts a $1 500 fine.

“We are still expecting from BB the surety of $20 000 as CAF does not know BB but the association; hence, any fine will have to be paid by us. We are expecting the money this Friday. As for what happens if they do not comply, I would say let us cross the bridge when we get there,” said Nyirenda.

In an interview with MBC last week, Bullets chairperson Kondie Msungama said they would rather deposit such amount of money in their account and provide FAM proof of the same. Msungama said he was unsure as to what CAF or Fifa regulations the association was applying over this demand.
