Big Bullets Presidential Cup victory parade that was scheduled to take place on Wednesday was postponed at the 11th hour on advice from Blantyre City Council and police.

Bullets were supposed to hold a Presidential Cup victory parade in the commercial city to celebrate with their fans.

Bullets general secretary Higger Mkandawire said he received a call from the council’s director of administration, Alfred Chanza, Tuesday evening, advising them to postpone the parade on security grounds.

“The Blantyre City Council in consultation with the police said it would be a security risk to proceed with the parade in the wake of the ongoing strikes.

“We were, therefore, advised to wait until the situation normalises. We understood their explanation and postponed the parade,” said Mkandawire.

He said the team will soon come up with another date once the situation calms down.

“We will be in touch with council and police authorities and we hope to come up with a fresh date soon,” he said.

The Bullets GS also said the postponement will enable their national team players, including wonderkid Gabadinho Mhango and Chimango Kaira, to be part of the celebrations as they would have returned from Ghana.

“We are also planning to present the trophy to our sponsors Carlsberg Malawi to express our gratitude for the sponsorship,” said Mkandawire.
