Big Bullets have decided not to appeal against Super League of Malawi’s (Sulom) K1.2 million fine for the violence that occurred during their Super League match against Epac FC last Sunday.

The decision came in the wake of a meeting which Bullets had with Sulom on Saturday.

Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama said they felt proceeding with the appeal would have dragged the issue unnecessarily.

“Instead, during the meeting we had with Sulom we requested that they allow us to pay the fine in instalments, which they accepted.

“In fact, we have paid the larger chunk of the fine and we are optimistic that by next month, we should settle it in full,” said Msungama.

At the said meeting, Sulom was represented by its general secretary Williams Banda and treasurer Tiya Somba-Banda while Bullets had Msungama and trustee Gaston Mwenelupembe.

Bullets were fined K1.2 million while Epac were fined K350 000 for various offences.

Bullets’ main supporters committee chairperson Isaac Jomo Osman was banned from football for a year. Two other fans, Alex Mwale and Robert Nyasulu, were also banned for two years for deplorable behaviour.

The committee also found referee Roy Williams to have been considerably incompetent in handling the game.

Both Bullets and Epac were found guilty of disorderliness at the match, contrary to article 21 (3) of Sulom rules and regulations and section 2, article 48 of the Fifa disciplinary code.
