Cabinet Reshuffle: Mutharika Fires Gowelo, Chibingu

President Peter Mutharika has fired Tracizio Gowelo and Paul Chibingu from cabinet in a mini-reshuffle announced today.

Gowelo was minister of Local Government has been replaced by Kondwani Nankhumwa who was at the ministry of Information, Tourism and Culture.

Atupele Muluzi has replaced Chibingu at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development. He has been moved from the  Ministry of Home Affairs.

From the Ministry of health, Dr Jean Kalilani has been moved to Home Affairs and Internal Security Ministry while Jappie Mhango has replaced Nankhumwa at Information.

Malison Ndau has replaced Mhango at the Ministry of defence, while Dr. Peter Kampalume has replaced Dr Kalilani at the Ministry of Health.

This is the second time Mutharika has reshuffled his cabinet since winning the May 20 2014 tripartite elections.

A few months ago, Mutharika moved Muluzi from the ministry of Energy and Mining to Home Affairs, while Chibingu, who was then at Home Affairs moved to the Ministry of Lands.

Bright Msaka, then at the ministry of Lands, was moved to the Ministry of Energy and Mining, a ministry he has maintained in the current reshuffle.
