If I were

Callista Mutharika

Late president Bingu wa Mutharika’s widow, I would avoid engaging in confrontation with my stepchildren over the family’s Ndata Estate in Thyolo.

I would realise that allegations that I physically confronted one of my stepchildren over the estate are degrading and embarrassing, considering my status.

How I wish I were the good former first lady, because I would seek other means of addressing the differences other than being involved in a heated quarrel with the children of my late husband over Casablanca Manor.

If I were Callista, I would appreciate that confrontation will not in any way help solve the problem at hand and it might end up worsening the situation.

If I were the former first lady I would seriously consider giving dialogue a chance for the good of the family and indeed my own good.

That is if only I were the former first lady. Unfortunately, I am not her.
