Carlsberg Cup set for national phase

The K20 million (about $66 666) Carlsberg Malawi Cup is set to go into the national phase following the completion of the regional qualifiers.

The three regions have produced 17 teams that will join the 15 Super League teams for the national draw set for Friday.

“We are pleased with how the competition has been run at regional level. The teams produced exciting matches and they behaved a lot, which is commendable and good for our game.

“The competition will start soon after the completion of the Standard Bank Knockout Trophy on October 6,” said FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda.

The Southern Region has BNC Produsak, Changalume Barracks, Chikhwawa United, Thondwe FC, Cobbe Barracks and White Eagles.

Central Region representatives are Silver Reserves, Blue Eagles Youth, Support Battalion, Airborne Rangers, Black Eagles and Maicc whereas the North has Super Eagles, Karonga Vendors, Super Dynamos and Mzuni.
