Malawi will for the first time be hosting a motor show, an event that will bring together the who’s who in Malawi’s motoring industry.
Car dealers will exhibit their latest vehicles and automobile technology under one roof as patrons will have the opportunity to check out the best that Malawi has on the auto market.
Branded the Malawi Motor Show, the inaugural showcase, which was slated for last weekend at the Blantyre Sports Club, has been rescheduled to this Saturday at the same venue.
Samuel Chiwaka, Malawi Motor Show consultant, said on Monday that the dates were shifted to this weekend due to the recent political uncertainly following the 20 May Tripartite Elections.
“With the political situation, we couldn’t risk it as there was some kind of tension that’s why we decided to push it to the first week of July,” said Chiwaka. “We are very happy with the planning we expect huge crowds.”
He added: “Everything stays the same but we have managed to bring in additional activities which include beaming of the Fifa World Cup quarterfinals and a live music performance by Faith Mussa and Patience Namadingo on Friday”.
The first staging of what is to be an annual event, the Malawi Motor Show this year will attract 25 exhibiting companies, with 50 vehicles and products on show.
According to Chiwaka, the official launch will open with a corporate evening on Friday at 6:30pm and will be followed by a public event on Saturday from of 9am.
The Malawi Motor Show is expected to provide its exhibitor client base with the best opportunity to activate and communicate their individual brand positioning statements within the automotive industry.
It also promises to be a unique market place of innovations where both specialists and enthusiasts can revel in hands-on experiences.
Among the objectives, the event aims at enhancing Malawi as an international automotive business and trade platform.
