Catholics drilled on new Mass Order

The Mangochi Diocese last week held a workshop on the order of The Mass according to the New Roman Missal.

The Catholic Church has amended some parts of the Order of Mass to reflect the original versions of the mass.

Mangochi diocese is one of the leading dioceses to sensitise its clergy and the faithful on the changes.

The workshop was facilitated by a taskforce that comprises Fr Joseph Kimu of Mangochi Diocese, Fr. Audifansio Kapinga of Lilongwe Archdiocese and Fr. Henry Chinkanda of Dedza Diocese.

The three form a national taskforce for the translation of the Roman Missal into vernacular in Malawi.

“The outstanding reason for the changes in the New Order of the Holy Mass is a need to be faithful to its original Latin Language that was reached in stipulating the theological, biblical and traditional treasure endowed in the Roman Missal. Thus, after the workshop, the participants will be empowered to teach all the Catholic Christians in

their respective places in the Diocese of Mangochi,” said Fr. Raphael Mkuzi, communications coordinator for the diocese.

The workshop was a response to the universal call made by Pope Benedict XVI on November 27 2011 when he inaugurated the use of the Order of the Mass.
