In her remarks during the event, Gwembere thanked the women for their gesture, saying it will go a long way in motivating the remandees to change their behaviour.

“I thank the organisers for the donation and for sparing your precious time to cheer the suspects. As the scripture says, ‘I was sick you did not cheer me, I was in prison you did not visit me and I was hungry you didnot feed me’. What you have done has given the suspects hope. I urge other believers to emulate the good example,” she said.

St Luke CCAP women’s chairperson Esnart Banda said they decided to cheer the remandees to urge them to follow the word of God.

Speaking on behalf of the suspects, Wedi Standy thanked the women for the visit, promising they will change their behaviour once out of custody. n
