Changa wins NBM golf

 

Jimmy Changa was crowned National Bank of Malawi (NBM) golf champion after beating a field of 52 golfers at Mulanje Golf Club (MGC) on Sunday.

After 18 holes, the experienced golfer, who received a microwave and a trophy, netted 40 points, recording 20 on both back and front.

Playing off handicap 14, Changa had two birdies, eight pars and six bogeys. He also hit blanks twice.

“The golf course was good with lots on greens. It was pleasing to play here and even more pleasing to win,” said Changa in his victory speech.

Lester Tandwe was the runner-up after recording 39 points while MGC captain Ajay Singh came third with 38 points.

In his remarks, the captain thanked National Bank for sponsoring the tournament which attracted golfers from Blantyre and Mulanje, among other places.

“The bank has always been with us and we are really thankful for that. I also thank my fellow golfers for the professionalism you have displayed at this tournament,” he said.

In the men’s senior category, Kingsley Chimdima Mhango was the winner after recording 33 points. The longest drive honour went to Tarrang Makhecha while Nyakhokho Nsona was nearest to the pin.

NBM business development manager Bernard Masi promised continued sponsorship of the tournament.

“We have always been here and let me assure you that we will always be here. We believe that this is the platform for you golfers to share business ideas,” Masi said. n
