Blantyre Girls Primary School were proud recipients of books and learning materials from CharChar Trust.

During the donation, Saint Andrews International High School head Gordon Benbow and his students assembled a chest of books and attached it to the wall of a classroom at Blantyre Girls.

According to information on their website, the CharChar Trust develops ‘Reader series’ to meet a shortage of reading materials in Africa.

They produce their own series of entertaining and colorful reading books in English and Chichewa so that children can enjoy the experience of reading and thereby improve the language skills they need to more easily comprehend the materials in their textbooks.

To overcome the problems of poor unsafe storage and accessibility of school materials, the trust has developed a secure, weather and insect proof materials store.

The CharCharChest, which can be bolted to the classroom wall and locked, gives children and teachers easy access to the books, posters and other materials that are an important part of the daily learning process.
