Chavula joins Flames

Flames stand-in captain Moses ‘Luba’ Chavula has joined the Flames ahead of next month’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final round qualification first leg against Ghana.

Chavula arrived in the country from South Africa at the weekend following the failure of his deal in Lebanon where he had hoped to sign for Premier League side Nejmeh SC in Beirut.

Flames coach Kinnah Phiri said he was happy that players who were out of contracts were heeding his call to return home to join the Flames as they prepare for Ghana.

“Already, we have Dave Banda and now Moses has also joined the team, this is quite encouraging.

“I hope Chiukepo [Msowoya], who is also finalising the termination of his contract with Orlando Pirates, will join us very soon.

“It will be good to have key players for the friendly match against Liberia as we prepare for Ghana,” Kinnah said on Monday.

The Flames will face Liberia in a build-up match on September 5 before proceeding to Ghana for the crucial away qualifier.
