DD Sunshine twin strikers Temwa Chawinga and Sabina Thom on Sunday scored six goals each to top the Golden Boot Race in the Central Region Under-20 Women FAM Cup.

The two helped Sunshine to reach the semi-final after walloping Linga Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) 16-0.

Fanny Mwale netted the other four goals.

In other quarter-final games, Kamuzu Barracks (KB) sailed through after beating Spaniards 6-0.

Ivy Phiri and Modester Jamu scored a brace each while Oliver Kamwana and Brenda Mkamanga completed the rout.

DM Twinkles lost 6-4 to Lilongwe Stars in a penalty shoot-out. Regulation time ended in 1-1 draw.

Skippers FC booted out Mpalo Queens 7-1 to complete the semi-final list.

Chifundo Mwimba claimed four goals while Omega Kapulikira scored a hat-trick.

Tikhala Gomani scored Mpalo’s consolation goal.

According to Central Region Women Football Committee (CRWFC) general secretary Faggie Kazingantchire, semi-finals will be played this Saturday.

Kamuzu Barracks host DD Sunshine while Skippers face Twinkles of Salima at Mvera.

In the South, Blantyre Zero, Zomba City Queens, Balaka FC and Ntopwa Super Queens have made it into the regional semi-finals. On Saturday, Zero thrashed Mangulenje Sisters 6-0 while Zomba City Queens beat King’s Ladies 3-0. During the quarter-final encounters on Sunday, Balaka thrashed Chikhwawa Queens 4-0 whereas Ntopwa beat Sitima Yoce Sisters 2-0.
