Blantyre-based golfer Paul Chidale’s supremacy was evident on Saturday when he outsmarted a field of 72 golfers at Kasasa Golf Club at Dwangwa, Nkhotakota to win the Nico General Golf.

It was sublime performance from the youthful golfer and he proved why he is the number one golfer in the country.

He got 39 points ahead of Dwangwa-based Geoffrey Mkoko, who had 38 points.

Chidale received a trophy and gym equipment while Mkoko received a dining table as prizes.

In his victory speech, Chidale thanked Nico General for the tournament and for what he described as wonderful prizes.

“I had a great game and the greens aided my game as they were wonderful. I thank God for this victory and the talent that I have in this sport,” he said.

Dan Mvula had the longest drive while Mkoko was also nearest to the pin. Mvula got a home theatre as prize.

Dwangwa golfers dominated the ladies category. Lusuwilo Chakaniza was the champion with 37 points, followed by Tanya Davies.

Davies was also nearest to the pin. She received a set of camp chairs for her feat.

Blantyre-based Elizabeth Tench had the longest drive, which earned her a home theatre.

Nico General chief executive officer Eric Chapola thanked the golfers for patronising the event in their large numbers.

“You have made this golf a success and we promise to be back next year. Through this event, we interact with our customers and get feedback on our services. We are currently introducing a service whereby our customers can access our products through mobile phones,” said Chapola.

Nico General assistant general manager Donbell Mandala briefed the golfers on the services which they are offering such as Fast Track Claims.

Nico General also donated money towards the maintenance of the golf course.
