Malawian top boxer Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba must, for the third time, readjust his training tactics in America following the withdrawal on a technicality of yet another challenger, Paul Vasquez.

A week after Hungarian Zsolt Erdie withdrew from the 10-round super middleweight non-title fight due to a broken rib, Vasque, too, is out of the September 29 contest.

“Paul Vasquez failed a medical test and in that case, I won’t be fighting him. Now, we have another guy [American] Cory Cummings whose record is 18 wins and four losses,” said Chilemba through an e-mail on Friday.

As of Friday, the 24-year-old, who is based in South Africa, was waiting to sign a contract with Cummings.

“Zsolt Erdei pulled out of the fight due to a rib injury. I believe he just got scared and that cost me not to headline the HBO show and fight on under-card against Vasquez,” Chilemba said last week.

Fighting under DiBella Entertainment, Chilemba has been training at Hit Factory Gym just off the Strip Las Vegas under his new trainer Buddy Mcgirt. He travelled to the United States with his South African manager Jodi Solomons. Chilemba’s record is (19-1-9 KOs).
