Chilumba thrash Kabwafu 6-0 to remain on top of Simama League

Chilumba Barracks maintained its lead in the 2015 Northern Region Simama Premier League after thrashing Kabwafu FC 6-0 at Majaliro Football ground in Chilumba on Sunday.

Jabesi Phiri, Hellings Banda and Mcfeyo Nyirenda had a brace each to provide Chilumba a comfortable lead.

This is 12th win for the Karonga-based soldiers out of the 13 games they have played, so far, in the league. They have only lost once to Karonga United.

Kabwafu, who scooped position three in the league’s previous season, are still on position four with 26 points from 13 games played.

“We are surprised with this result, we did not expect this. The whole team was down. Any way, it happens in football, we will sit down to iron out such problems,” said Kabwafu team manager Stavens Zgambo.

Chilumba assistant team manager Philip Jere thanked his players for displaying, what he called, classic football.

“With the absence of our top scorer Komani Msiska, who is currently with Moyale Barracks, we still controlled today’s match. I thank my players for the good display,” said Jere.

Meanwhile, Karonga United are second from Chilumba with 31 points from 13 games played.

Despite the 2-1 defeat to Livingstonia on Saturday, Rumphi Medicals are still on position three with 28 points from 14 games played.
