Demobrey Chipala on Sunday emerged overall winner of the Under-13 Junior Golf Challenge tournament at Blantyre Sports Club.
The tournament was co-sponsored by Afrox Limited, Steers and Debonairs and parents.
Chipala, who had 66 strokes, saw off Kiara Araujo, who claimed the second position in the nine-hole category whereas Sufyan Kali finished third with 70 shots.
Demobrey got a warm hug from his father Edwin who helped him carry his prizes that included a gas stove from Afrox.
“I am very excited to win the tournament and I thank the organisers and the sponsors,” said Demobrey.
Bilal Jussab pipped Marcus Chalulu to emerge the winner in the five-hole category. Tatenda Kantwanje finished third whereas Matthews Chima was fourth.
In the two-hole category, Mikel Jussab was the champion whereas Darren Kuyeri was his runner-up after he counted out Miguel Araujo.
The tournament’s organising committee spokesperson Wilma Chalulu thanked the parents and other sponsors for being committed towards the cause.
The tournament attracted 29 participants.
