Mozambique National Mocambola League side CD Chingale have signed Be Forward Mighty Wanderers first-choice goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa at K5.5 million (350 000 meticais) and K520 000 (33 000 meticais) monthly package.

Ken Giggs, the agent who is facilitating Chipuwa’s deal, said the club was impressed with the goalkeeper’s performance just three days into the trials.

“He has trained with the team for three days, but already the technical panel is impressed. The supporters are also thrilled by his performance,” Giggs said on Wednesday.

“The club wanted to sign three goalkeepers. Three are left after one from DR Congo was dropped. Right now there is one from Ghana another from Mozambique and Chipuwa,” he said.

However, Chipuwa’s deal risk vaporising into thin air because of a contractual dispute with his club Wanderers.

The goalkeeper claims his contract with Wanderers expired on January 5 while the Nomads claim he is still contracted to them until 2018.

“As far as I am concerned, I am a free agent. I do not have a contract with Wanderers,” Chipuwa insisted on Wednesday.

But Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao warned Chipuwa that the contract with Chingale was illegal.

He said: “His current contract expires in April. He has signed an extension to 2018. You will find signed documentation at our secretariat. I do not want to start fighting or contradicting my own players in the press.

“But if and when they act irresponsibly, they should not blame anybody if Fifa finds that they have effectively signed multiple contracts (with different teams) for the same period and bans them,”

“We have never stood in a player’s way but he decided not to follow the procedure as advised by FAM. We will not be blamed for whatever fate befalls him.”

Meanwhile, FAM player transfer manager Casper Jangale has advised both parties to produce evidence for their claims.

“If Wanderers claim they have the documents let them produce the contract,” Jangale said. “The same applies to the player, let him produce the evidence as well.”

Chingale FC, based in Tete Province, is one of the oldest clubs in Mozambique. They just got promoted back to the Mocambola league last season after playing in Provincial League.

It is sponsored by Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) just like Costa Do Sol which has Malawian midfielder Chimango Kayira. n
