Choma FC cry for sponsorship

Gotani Hara Cup defending champions Choma FC have appealed to the corporate world for sponsorship.

The Mzimba North-based club was formed in 2009 on self-sponsorship and won the Mzimba North parliamentarian Catherine Gotani Hara Cup on its debut, but has found the going tough after joining Mzuzu City Division One and the FMB leagues.

Every weekend, Choma players cycle 25 kilometres to fulfil fixtures in Mzuzu, a development which sometimes disadvantages the team.

Speaking on Saturday at Mzuzu Upper Stadium where they lost 0-3 to Moyale Barracks Youth in an FMB League encounter Choma chairperson Suzgani Mkandawire said they would be grateful if well-wishers can help them with a vehicle to easy their transport problems.

“We are tired of cycling to Mzuzu to play games. Sometimes we even play on empty stomachs, which affects us a lot; hence, our appeal for help,” said Mkandawire.

The team, which is on eighth position with 23 points, has only lost twice in Mzuzu encounters despite lacking sponsorship.

Mkandawire said those willing to help can contact him on +265888145931 or meet the team at Choma Health Centre.
