Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) executive director Timothy Mtambo has resumed his duties at the organisation effective Tuesday after 11 months of studies in Italy.

In a press statement released yesterday, CHRR board chairperson Charity Salima said Mtambo is back in the country to lead the organisation.

She expressed delight at the support the organisation has been receiving from all stakeholders while Mtambo was away.

Mtambo: I am now more knowledgeable

“CHRR would like to thank its partners, especially the government, the donor community, civil society, media and the citizenry at large for the untiring support rendered to the organisation in Mtambo’s absence,” reads the statement in part.

In his remarks, Mtambo said he is excited, more energised and more knowledgeable now than he was before he went to pursue a master’s degree in international cooperation and development at the University of Pavia in Italy.

“This masters, unlike others that deal with development, is unique as it incorporates the component of cooperation which is essential for development to take place.

“I will also be able to contribute more effective input, whether in national development issues, advising people or government,” he said.

In his absence, Mtambo was deputised by Patson Gondwe, who is CHRR programmes manager. n
