Civo United have rejected Mighty Be Forward Wanderers’ suggestion to swap defender John Lanjesi with Victor Mpinganjira.

The civil servants’ general secretary Rashid Mtelera confirmed the development on Thursday, saying they wanted the two to be handled separately.

“Wanderers wrote us a letter proposing that since we are interested in their player [Mpinganjira] then we should agree on a swap deal.

“They wanted to tie up Lanjesi’s deal to Victor, but we felt that while both are transfer issues, they should be dealt with separately,” said Mtelera.

He also said Wanderers are yet to respond on the K4.5 million fee proposal for Lanjesi.

“As I stated earlier, initially there were two teams that showed interest in the player Wanderers and Silver, and we made an offer to both.

“Apparently, Silver have said they cannot afford that and that left us with Wanderers who are yet to respond,” said Mtelera.

However, Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao refused to comment on the issue, but well-placed sources yesterday said they are now considering for a loan deal.

Lanjesi has a contract with Civo which runs up to next year, but he recently confirmed his intention to join either Wanderers or Silver.

“I will choose the team that will make a good offer,” said Lanjesi.
