Civo United FC has validated its intentions to demote two of its strikers to a reserve team at the end of the TNM Super League first-round after experiencing a five-game goal drought.
The team’s general secretary Rashid Ntelera, whose side scored their first goal in their sixth game that ended 1-1 against Epac FC on Saturday through midfielder Nelson Kangunje, said the downgrading of the two players will create space for an experienced forward in the elite league.

This means that Charles Chilembo, Vincent Nyangulu, Chifundo Tawiha, Anthony Banda, Chisomo Mbozanani and Kumbukani Botha are on the list of possible demotion come the end of the first-round.
“A team worth its salt in the top-flight league needs strikers that effectively execute their duties of scoring goals. We cannot play so many games without scoring as if we do not have strikers,” Ntelera said.
“This is why we want to demote two of our current strikers to pave the way for an experienced forward from another Super League team when the transfer window opens at the end of the first-round.”
Civo United finished on fourth position last season, but they lie 14th with two points from six games.
The outfit scored four goals in their first six games last season. They won once, drew once and lost four times.
