Civo, Wizards fate next week

Listen to this article

Epac/Civo United and PremierBet Wizards have appealed to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) after failing to get licensed for the 2017 Super League season under the Club Licensing System.
FAM club licensing manager Casper Jangale said in an interview yesterday that the two clubs submitted documents to defend their cases
Civil Service (Civo) United was stopped from taking Epac FC’s slot in the Super League because they first needed clarification from the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) on what the regulations state about such an arrangement.
On the othe hand, Wizards failed to fulfil the requirement, including hiring of a CAF B licensed coach.

Jangale: They have made their submissions
“Of course, all the stakeholders have made their submissions as regards their cases. Now, we have a better picture of how we can proceed. However, we will not finalise everything this week as planned because most people involved in the handling of the cases will not be available due to the Easter holidays,” said Jangale.

Civo United general secretary Thomas Makiwa said much as they have no powers to push for the speed completion of the process, as Super League kick off draws closer, any delay would have negative effects on the clubs.
“It is up to FAM to decide when they would sort out our eligibility case. However, we hope they are aware of the consequences of delaying the process,” he said.

Epac/Civo United and Wizards are the only sides in the 16-team Super League yet to be granted a green light to contest in the 2017 season.
Kamuzu Barracks, Mzuni FC, Be Forward Wanderers, Big Bullets, Blue Eagles, Dwangwa United and Moyale obtained full licences while Chitipa United, Azam Tigers, Master Security, Blantyre United, Red Lions, Silver Strikers and Mafco secured provisional licences.
