The new season of Countrywide Car Hire Social Football Tournament will start in August, the event’s organiser Henry Mwale has disclosed.

Mwale said registration of teams for the K2.5 million (about $10 000) competition has already started at the College of Medicine (CoM) Sports Complex.

“Space will be available for 28 teams only and registration will run for two weeks. Let me also emphasise that the contest is only open to corporate teams and players,” he said.

Mwale added that the launch ceremony of the annual competition, which has been running for four years, will take place at the Sports Complex in the next three weeks.

Megabites are the defending champions. They beat Old Mutual 5-4 on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

MSB earned a bonus 2-0 victory over PSI to win the third-place after the latter faced disqualification for featuring at least five Division One league players.
