Crime rate reduced in Mzimba

Listen to this article

Police in Mzimba have said the crime in the district has declined by 43.9 percent in the first quarter of the year. The decrease is attributed to the relationship between the police and the public, and the influence of community policing.

Mzimba Police public relations officer Gift Nyirongo on Thursday said the district has so far recorded 210 criminal cases compared to last year when 374 cases were registered over the same period. He said there was a drop in sexual offences as the district has only registered five such cases as compared to 18 last year .—Jonas Nyasulu, Correspondent
