Speaking on Saturday, village head (V/H) Mehera said the borehole will ease the burden for women who have been walking long distances to draw water.

One of the women in the area, Margaret Chimbota, said they were drawing water from contaminated wells and swamps which they were sharing with animals.

“This borehole will make us drink safe water. It should also be mentioned that one needed to have a bicycle to draw clean water because it was found far away from here,” she said.

Kambewa said in an interview the team was inspired by the women they meet during their cycling activities.

“We usually meet women and young girls who travel long distances to access clean water, hence, we decided to do something by cycling to ease their problem,” he said. n
