DAM names 16-member Windhoek, Namibia squad

The Darts Association of Malawi (DAM) has announced names of youth players who will represent the country during the 2015 Zone V1 Youth Tournament in Windhoek, Namibia.

The games are scheduled to take place from August 20 to 26.

According to DAM secretary general Chester Kayange, the players have been selected based on performance during trials held in Blantyre on July 11 as well as birth record satisfaction.

Successful players in the boys category aged between 16 and 18 years are: Lloyd Tsamba from Zomba District Darts League (ZDDL), Evance Msimuko and Ephraim Longwe from Mzuzu Districts Darts League (MDDL), Mphatso Kachere from Blantyre and Districts Darts League (BDDL).

In the boy’s category with ages 13-15: Gracian Kachingwe, Yusuf Juma   Mphatso Kafadala and Rex Chisale Junior all from BDDL.

In the girl’s category of 16-18 years: Vanessa Mafuta (BDDL), Vitima Ziba (MDDL), Mwai Thewe (ZDDL) and Violet Masina from LDDL while Vanessa Malinda (BDDL), Memory Sanjira, (BDDL), Chisomo Taulo (BDDL) and Yasintha Binauli (LDDL) will represent Malawi in the girl’s category aged 13 and 15.

“The good thing is that almost every region has been represented. This means that the sport is growing. It is important that we go there and bring medals,” said Kayange.

Camping for youngsters begins next week at a venue to be decided later.

“What we are doing now is to ensure that every player has a passport. We are working with regional committees on the matter,” said Kayange.
