For more reasons than one, Dan Lu does not need an introduction in the local music industry.

Since his debut with Shupie, Dan Lu has always been a darling to Malawian music lovers.

By now, you are eager to learn what the Afro pop heart throb is sorry about.

The artist has released his fifth album titled Sorry.

The album, which is themed around daily experiences, has three songs Si Ma Suwiti, Sorry and Holy Ghost Fire that have already premiered on local radio stations.

From the promotional songs that have been put for public consumption, one can get a feel of what is in the album.

In Sorry, Dan Lu takes a Nigerian beat.

The idea of the artist singing on a Nigerian beat is a turn off, especially at a time when the industry is still searching for indefinite identity.

Dan Lu even makes a Nigerian accent in the intro and outro of the song, which suggests the choice of the Nigerian beat was preconceived and not spontaneous.

However, the powerful message of a wife being fed up with the numerous apologies from the husband coupled with his delivery saves the song.

In Holy Ghost Fire, the artist adopts the same routine as he did with the title by taking on a beat that sounds Zambian.

But with his stints with Zambian artist, the singer can be excused.

In Holy Ghost Fire, the artist talks about a person who is failing to break through in life and asks God what he did wrong. He then calls upon the Holy Ghost Fire to break the bondage.

In Simasuwiti, Dan Lu takes his fans home by rocking a manganje beat with a version of famous adage at engagement and wedding ceremonies “Kapirire unka iweko”.

The album includes collaborations with Piksy in a song titled Am Losing my Mind and another with Orga Family in the track Music Music.

With messages that ordinary Malawians can relate to, the album is a symbol of maturity in the artist.

However, the album is a mixed bag with songs in different genres. Dan Lu takes listeners to Nigeria and back through neighbouring Zambia with his beats.

Maturity at times is also manifested in the ability to pick a side (genre in this case) and defend it with one’s life.

However, Dan Lu has maintained his vocal ability and composing ingenuity which gives a promise of the album topping the charts on local radio stations.

Although the Shupie hit maker has released Sorry, it is not the only project he has worked on this year, as he is yet to release an international project titled Number One.

The artist is working with Sisqo Productions and has collaborations with various artists from the continent.

Artist such as Done K from DRC, Nigerian Black Dogg, Orga Family from Zambia and Dizzy Don from Zimbabwe are featured in the album.

Apart from the latest album, the artist have albums such as Shupie (2004), Cousin (2006), No Size (2008) and So What? (2012) to his discography.
