Days after appointing Goodall Gondwe as Minister of Finance and Economic Planning and Development, President Peter Mutharika on Sunday made three more appointments.

According to a statement issued by Chief Secretary to Government, Hawa Ndilowe, Mutharika has appointed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) publicity secretary Nicholas Dausi as National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) director general.

The President has fired Deputy Inspector General of Police Nelson Bophani and replaced him with Commissioner of Police for the Southern Region Lexten Kachama.

Mabvuto Bamusi, who was board chairperson of National Initiative for Civic Education during the previous DPP administration, is back as special assistant to the President on non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Dausi, a former deputy minister in the DPP administration, was one of the security officers for the country’s first president Hastings Kamuzu Banda.

He replaces former Inspector General of Police Joseph Aironi.
