Dedza fail to dislodge Mchinji Stars

Listen to this article

Dedza Young Soccer’s two away draws in Kasungu denied them an opportunity to dethrone Mchinji Boma Stars from the K6 million (about $16 000) Chipiku Premier Division driving seat.

Dedza, who have now gone three games without a win, drew 0-0 with Kasungu Medicals and Kasungu Police at the weekend to remain second on 28 points from 14 matches.

This should have been a wonderful opportunity for Dedza to go top as leaders Mchinji Stars got thrashed 4-0 by rampant Macc FC who scored through Peter Msakambewa, Lama Maseko and Frank Nkwate’s double on Saturday.

But Macc got their match the following day when they lost 2-1 to Support Battalion. Nkwate netted the consolation for Macc.

Macc general secretary Chris Bias on Monday said they were determined “to go top and earn Super League promotion”.

Mchinji top the standings after 16 games. Kasungu Medicals caught up on 28 points from 15 games with Dedza.
