Deekay Suppliers National Darts Tournament will be played at College of Medicine (CoM) Sports Complex in Blantyre this weekend.

During a press briefing, Darts Association of Malawi (DAM) and CoM Sports Complex conducted on Wednesday, DAM tournament director Chipiliro Mzanda said at least 16 teams from across the country are expected to take part in the two-day contest.

Mponda: We have finalised the requirements

“So far, 11 teams have registered and we expect the remaining five teams to do the same by close of business this Friday [today],” Mzanda said.

He said the tournament, which will be played in Region Five Games’ format, will also be used to tune up players for the new season.

According to DAM treasurer general Muchanakhwaye Mpuluka, champions will get K150 000 plus a trophy while runners-up, third-placed and fourth-positioned outfits will receive K100 000, K50 000 and K30 000, respectively.

CoM Sports Complex health and fitness officer Cathrew Chimimba said they are proud to be associated with the sport for the last seven years.

This is the first time that Deekay Suppliers have sponsored a national competition. For the past 30 years, the company has been bankrolling darts on a league basis. n
