On Friday last week, DHL and Rab Processors signed a partnership agreement to enhance the movement of goods within and beyond the borders of Malawi.

Speaking on the sidelines of the signing agreement, head of sales for DHL Express in Africa Cristian Vera elaborated further why DHL decided to undertake this initiative, alluding it to the potential economic growth in the country.

Said Vera: ” If you closely monitor the economies in most European countries and even America the economies are slowing down while in Africa most of the economies are predicted to grow over six percent. The world GDP has also dropped and yet Africa is moving in the right direction and to us Africa is one of the important markets.

“We have 10 dedicated planes for Africa and we want to purchase more planes. Currently, we have 290 daily flights into Africa and we will be purchasing five new vehicles for the Malawi market because potential of growth is very overwhelming.”

Country manager for DHL Express, Sara Kayongo, said the partnership between Rab Processors and DHL will have a great impact on the movement of goods and trade not only within the borders of Malawi but also between the country and its trading partners.

“The express logistics industry and specifically retail services for consumers and small and medium enterprises, are becoming hugely important in Africa. For us to better service this market and open up global opportunities for small business owners and general consumers, we needed to both increase access to our express products but, simultaneously, make it easier and more affordable to use them,” said Kayongo.

She said Rab Processors was an obvious partner because they not only are a solid African business entity but have an extensive retail network across the continent, which can benefit the consumer.
