“Our initial plan was to have the whole festival in Blantyre but we had to change the plan due to public demand,” said Matukuta.

In Blantyre, the affair will be at the Blantyre Cultural Centre the following Saturday until Easter Monday. The day will open with a workshop for young artists, followed by a dance performance from the Floor Steppers. In the afternoon, Chancellor College will bring Tax Abortion while Solomonic Peacocks will perform their latest release, The Misbegotten.

The day will run into the evening with Nanzikambe showcasing an adaptation of Sizwe Bansi is Dead.

Sunday will see dance and drama brushing shoulders, Village Cultural Troupe with Zimbabwe’s dance group, Icon Theatre and Kwathu Drama Group will perform in the afternoon before renowned Malawian poets and mimic masters take centrestage.

Comedy and dance come face to face on Easter Monday as Malawi’s Izeki ndi Jakobo face Zambia’s Bikiloni ndi Difikoti and Zimbabwe’s Chigubu. Malawi comedians Mr Jokes, Mada Nyambo will also join dance group Chichiri Cultural Troupe.
