Music promoter Phindu Promotions has organised a 2013 welcome phungwe at Mungo Park Monday night with the cream of secular music in Malawi.

“We have organised two shows. The first will be in New Year’s Eve where Lucius Banda, Black Missionaries, Piksy, Armstrong, Maskal and Zambia’s singing duo of Organised Family [will perform].  On 1 January, it will be a family show at the Tilipano Leisure Centre where Skeffa Chimoto joins the Blacks and the Zambians,” said Abel Kumwenda of Phindu Promotions.

“We owe our success in our first year of music promotion to all the artists we have worked with and most of the fans. We are going to continue from where we will stop come 2013 but of course with more fire. We will host more shows and bring more internationals artists from countries like South Africa, Botswana and Zambia of course,” he added.

According to Kumwenda, this year, Phindu Promotions focused on Zambian musicians due to among other reasons, “the firm was still in its infancy and the fact that Zambian music continues to command a large following locally.”
