Escom United fired warning shots in the countdown to the new season when they beat Mighty Wanderers 4-2 in a friendly match played at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

The Electricians, who transfer-listed the bulk of their key players at the end of last season, showed that they will still be a force in the flagship league as they led 3-0 at one point.

One of Escom’s assistant coaches McDonald Mtetemera said they are satisfied with the performance of their new crop of players.

Escom featured a total six old players who included Bernard ‘Benzo’ Harawa, Spencer Chapantha, Lawrence Milanzi and Bashir Maunde.

Harawa scored one of the goals for Escom while Gerald Phiri Jnr and Gomezgani Gondwe were on target for the Nomads.

However, Wanderers team manager McHodges Chunga played down the loss.
