Speaking on Saturday after presenting the items to Mwanza District Council, the EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid 5.5 project officer Chikondi Kazizi said they want to take part in fighting the pandemic.

“We realise that by joining hands, we will be able to overcome the battle against the disease,” she said.

In her remarks, Mwanza District Council chief administrative officer Victoria Wane said they needed more PPE to effectively contain the spread of the virus.

“We pledge transparency and accountability in distributing the items to targeted schools and markets,” she said.

In a separate interview, Chipatala Market chairperson Rose Donda commended donations made by various partners towards the fight against the pandemic.

The PPE will also be donated to Mangochi, Chikwawa and Karonga district councils.
