Mhlanga issued the warning last Saturday at Mhlafuta Football Ground on the sidelines of a Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Regional Economic Integration (REI) meeting conducted by National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust.

Said Mhlanga: “I cannot deny you the right to socialise and enjoy. However, you need to remember that you have the responsibility to look after your spouses and children.”

Mhlanga asked Nice and health workers to help in sensitising people to the effects of excessive beer drinking on human health.

On regional economic integration, the chief expressed optimism that the programme would stimulate social and economic transformation of Sadc countries.

Nice executive director Ollen Mwalubunju challenged government to come up with clear trade policies and implementation strategies if Malawi is to maximise benefits of regional integration.

Mwalubunju, therefore, announced that Nice has partnered with GIZ-Progress to impart messages   on Sadc REI to communities. n
