Football Association of Malawi (FAM) executive committee will meet on Saturday to discuss, among other things, Flames preparations for the forthcoming World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations.

The Flames face Kenya’s Harambee Stars and Nigeria’s Super Eagles on June 2 and a week later respectively in World Cup qualifiers before facing Chad’s Sao on June 30 in the return leg of the Africa Cup of Nations first round.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu on Thursday said Flames coach Kinnah Phiri will attend the meeting and is expected to submit a proposal on the team’s preparations.

“The team’s performance in the last game [against Chad] will also be discussed and the coach will be expected to report on the same, and, crucially his plans for the forthcoming fixtures and other activities,” Nyamilandu said.

The FAM president also said the team’s forthcoming trip to China for an international friendly match will also be discussed.

He said the executive board meeting will also follow up on the request for supplementary budget that was already approved by government for the imminent fixtures.
