“He has been hired as a football consultant to act as technical adviser to the [Flames] coaches and he will be tasked with helping the team to qualify for 2017 Afcon and also win the Cosafa Cup. He will also help in offering advice in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“Dell will not work directly with the players, but the coaches and at the end of the day, he will give us a report on how to improve the national team’s technical, tactical and administrative aspects. He will give coaches advice on areas that need improvement,” said Nyamilandu.

The FAM president said the Briton, who works as one of the coaches for English side Reading FC’s academy, is expected to arrive in the country today.

Asked on his perks, Nyamilandu said: “As I said, he is just a consultant who will be with us for a month and we will be responsible for his pay which we have already negotiated, it is a one-off fee.”

Dell briefly worked as a head coach for Surestream Academy in 2012 and helped them to lay structures alongside technical director Peter Mponda and administration manager Patricio Kulemeka.
