Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has said in as far as it is concerned, it still recognises Big Bullets executive committee that was ‘fired’ by the main supporters committee on Sunday.

FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda yesterday said  they are still dealing with the Kondi Msungama-led executive board for the forthcoming CAF Champions League first-round second leg against Al Hilal scheduled for Kamuzu Stadium on Easter Sunday.

“We have not received any communication, be it official or otherwise, that the Bullets exco has been fired and as far as we are concerned, they are still in office.

“Let me also state that what happened yesterday [Monday] when a group of fans ransacked the team’s office is worrisome and unfortunate. It is something that should not be tolerated. Fans have their own role to play and not interfere with the running of the club and if at all they are not happy with something, I am sure there are procedures that need to be followed,” said Nyirenda.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the beleagured executive committee met yesterday in Blantyre where they agreed to oversee the Al Hilal match.

While confirming having attended the meeting, Msungama said it does not mean he has reversed his decision.

“Al Hilal accorded us a warm reception in Khartoum and it is only proper that we reciprocate. I am only involved in making sure that all the logistics pertaining to the game are met.

“Otherwise, I am done with Bullets and my only advice to them is that they should be planning on making the team a better brand other than paint a bad picture to the public,” said Msungama.

Apart from Msungama, others that attended the preparatory meeting were first vice-chairperson Sadik Malinga, GS Harold Fote, treasurer Brian Ligomeka, Innocent Chidzulo, Dan Mbebuwa and Trust Nkhoma.

Meanwhile, Bullets’ board of trustees chairperson James Busiley has said they cannot intevene on the issues relating to the running of the team following an injunction obtained by Peter Tembo and Alick Kazonda restraining the trustees from interfering in the operations of the team.
