For the first time in the history of FAM Women Football Cup, regional finalists for this year will receive uniforms, National Women Football Committee (NWFC) has disclosed.

NWFC chairperson Severia Chalira said this means as the 2014 edition of the competition kicks off at district level on September 13, six teams will get the kits.

Previously, only the three national finalists had such privilege.

“We want to motivate more teams by allowing them to get something out of the event. As you know, some teams have been dominating the top three positions. We need other outfits to benefit as well,” said Chalira.

She, however, said this year’s competition will start without a launching ceremony due to some logistical problems.

Chalira said registration for the competition has started at district level and entry fee is K2 500 ($6) per team.

“Defending champions Skippers FC alongside other last year’s national finalists Blantyre Zero and Kwaito Sisters have been seeded for regional encounters,” she said.
