Female DJ shines in Chill battle

For the first time since the inception of the Carlsberg Chill DJs Battle, female deejays are this season participating.
History was made at Club Mustang Sally on Friday night when Madalitso Jana, aka DJ Shotie, was the only female DJ who sailed through to the second round of the Southern Region contest.
Out of the 10 DJs that competed on the night, three were females namely DJ Shotie, RJ and DJ Lo.

DJ Shotie and DJ Lo are students at the Blantyre International University (BIU) and RJ is a broadcaster at Power FM 101 radio station.
Originally from Mchinji, DJ Shotie did not only finish in the top five, but was among the best three as she was placed third with 55 points.
DJ Five and DJ Skip took the first and second positions with 64 and 63 points, respectively. On fourth place was DJ Ray with 46 points while at 45 points was DJ Madball who finished fifth.
While the male DJs that qualified for second round have been deejaying for years and competed in previous battles, DJ Shotie had never deejayed at a professional level until Friday night.
“This was my first time to compete in a DJ competition [and] I’m kinda scared to go to the second round. But it feels good to be in the top 5, I’m motivated to do more.
“I only trained for two days but I made it to the next round,” she explained in an interview after the contest. 
