Schneider Electric territory manager for Southern Africa, Ronald De-Almeida, in an interview said they provide a boost to companies’ data centre solutions for them to receive superlative products and peace of mind, when storing their critical business information.

“We are very much inclined to do solutions per customer needs. The needs for a data centre will explode in the next decade and I don’t think most companies are prepared for this,” he said.

De Almeida said they attempt to meet the needs of the data centres through technology and research since technology that is available will not be able to sustain the needs and growth of data centres in future.

“The problem is not the need for a data centre, but the needs of energy. We create an environment where we advise and assist in managing your energy. Energy is money,” he said.

The modular data centre architecture by Schneider Electric simplifies the data centre process, from concept through deployment, in a predictable time and cost-efficient manner and features facility modules that can scale in increments of 500 kilowatts to match current and future data centre requirements.

Ipcs managing director Tawanda Madovi said since things are changing; the focus is not so much on power backup system nowadays.

“The challenges are increasing, the requirements are becoming newer and newer and we thought of data centre as one of the products that we can offer on the Malawi market,” he said.

One of the participants, Wilkins Mijiga, who is National Bank of Malawi head of strategy, marketing and corporate affairs, said as a responsible corporate citizen, they realise the need for cost-saving initiatives in the delivery of their services and products.

He said this was the reason personnel from the marketing and information technology departments attended the meeting.

Schneider Electric is a global specialist in energy management with operations in more than 100 countries, offering integrated solutions across multiple market segments.
