Fisp coupons in next Tuesday

Minister of Agriculture, Irrigaion and Water Development George Chaponda, has disclosed that the first batch of the Farm Input Subsidy Programme (Fisp) coupons will be arriving in the countryon Tuesday next week.

Chaponda made the remarks in Parliament in response to queries from opposition members of Parliament (MPs) on the future of the programme.

The minister said he is in constant touch with the Government of Emirates where the coupons are being printed.

“Now, I can assure you that the first batch of coupons will be in by Tuesday and Wednesday next week. The programme is intact,” he said.

Former Vice President and MP for Mzimba South West Constituency Khumbo Kachali (People’s Party—PP) asked the minister to ensure equitable distribution of maize in Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) to save lives of hunger-stricken Malawians.

But Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development Goodall Gondwe assured that ‘no one will die of hunger’.
