The Flames on Thursday beat Be Forward Wanderers 2-0 in a training match at Chiwembe Technical Centre ground in Blantyre.

The match was part of the national football team’s preparations for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland’s Sihlangu on September 6 away in Mbabane while the Nomads used it to tune up for their Carlsberg Cup final against Big Bullets next Saturday at Civo Stadium.Flames-warm-up

The Flames led 1-0 at half time via John Banda’s strike while Yamikani Chester claimed the second goal.

“In absence of a Fifa calendar date between now and the time we face Swaziland, it is difficult to get an international friendly match and that is why we have turned to local clubs. I believe these games will still help us because clubs usually come full force to prove a point,” said Mtawali.

All the players that are in camp were given a run.

Tomorrow, the Flames will face Airtel Rising Stars select side at Kamuzu Stadium as part of the activities to spice up the finals. n
