The Flames who are camping in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, are expecting to have a full squad today as they step up preparations for Sunday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifier against Swaziland’s Sihlangu.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda on Tuesday said except for two players—Micium Mhone and Muhamad Sulumba—all the foreign-based players had joined the squad.Flames-warm-up

According to Nyirenda, those that had joined the squad by Tuesday were captain Limbikani Mzava, Robert Ng’ambi, Chimango Kayira, Gerald Phiri Jnr, Robin Ngalande and Chawanangwa Kawonga.

“Micium and Sulumba are the only ones yet to join the squad because they were yet to get passports from the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa which is trying to process their work permits, but we have an assurance from Cosmos that they should be joining the squad later today [yesterday],” said Nyirenda.

However, Cosmos local-based agent Ben Chiwaya, said: “They should join team tomorrow [today] because they have travelled to Pretoria to collect their passports.”

Nyirenda said the team is training twice a day on artificial turf and FAM first vice-president Moses Mkandawire was yesterday expected to finalise arrangements for a training game against South Africa National First Division (NFD) side Mbombela United scheduled for today.

The team is expected to leave for Swaziland on Friday.
