Flashback: Malawi last played against Mali in 2010 in Angola

The Flames 2015 Afcon qualifier against Mali’s Eagles that was slated for last night in Bamako was postponed due to heavy rains.
According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, the match is expected to be played this afternnon.
“The match has been postponed due to natural causes and according to the rules of the competition, it has to be played the following day at a time to be agreed by both teams with the match commissioner.
“But according to the reports I am getting, they have agreed to start at 5pm local time (3pm Mali time),” said Nyirenda.
The FAM GS said in view of the development, the Flames will have no time to rest as they are expected to depart Bamako at about 9pm.
The Flames are expected to arrive home tomorrow to prepare for their next Group B game against Ethiopia at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Wednesday.
In the other Group B match played yesterday, Algeria beat Ethiopia 2-1 in Addis Ababa.
In other results, Zambia were held to a barren draw by Mozambique, Cameroon beat DR Congo 2-0, Nigeria lost to Congo 3-2 and Ghana were held 1-all by Uganda.
Mali is ranked 60 in the world against 106 for Malawi. But that huge scientific gap should be atoned by the fact that Chimodzi has at their disposal one of the most imaginative midfielders Robert Ng’ambi to deliver better services to goal-hungry sniper Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango. He is expected to lead the lines with Atusaye Nyondo.
Chiukepo Msowoya, whose goals propelled the Flames to the 2010 Afcon finals, and Robin Ngalande provide plan B upfront. But the coach might throw Ngalande on the right flank, stepping in for injured John Banda whose goal against Benin enabled the Flames to sneak through to the group stages after post-match penalties.n
